Moving to the USA? Top 5 food experiences
Sure we all miss food from our homeland but these very American foods nearly make up for, well in my case, roast dinners, sausage rolls and Cornish pasties.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup: For this one you have to have an American partner or friend make you this as it is a little to homey for restaurants. The trick to this special delight is buttering the outside of the sandwich before grilling! To dip or not to dip is a serious consideration!
BBQ: Yes, we can all grill burgers chicken and sausages but the Americans are brilliant at making this an art form! A BBQ platter can include smoked Brisket so tender you do not need a knife, pulled pork, turkey, pastrami, sausage and ribs. Add to this sides of coleslaw, mac cheese and potato salad and you to will see why it is really hard to maintain a healthy weight here.
Fried Chicken: not the colonel Saunders type, real southern fried or even double fried chicken which is dipped in butter milk and then breading, (sometimes twice) and then fried and served with potato wedges called Jojo’ s which comes with ranch and hot sauce for dipping.
Steak: America has the best! I have no idea why as most countries have their own cows and grass but for some reason all the best cows seem to have moved to America and made themselves into the very best prime rib, fillet, strip, T bones and even burgers.
Cheese: This is genius! They serve it as a starter / appetizer and not after the dessert when everyone is very stuffed and cannot move! The result (in my case at least) is far more cheese is eaten to the detriment of the main course / entrée which in some cases is a good thing except if any of the above is being served.
Yum Yum YUM.
